Here at Standing Start Co., Pikes Peak is somewhat of a "local track" for us.  We are located in Denver, Colorado and feel lucky to have such an iconic race event just a few hours away.  We have only visited the hill climb but a couple times, wouldn't it be crazy to actually drive in it?

	Pikes Peak Intl. Hill Climb has quite the history in the world of racing.  The main attraction of this event is of course racing straight up through countless turns and switchbacks all the way up to 14,000'+.
This elevation change makes for quite the challenge for tuning the most optimal race car.  With the abrupt change of oxygen levels, this affects traditional combustion engines dramatically.
	Pikes Peak is open to the public during most of the year, so if you are in Colorado during the warmer months give it a shot!  It's fully paved now, which wasn't the case in the past as it has gone from full gravel to a hybrid gravel / paved, and now fully paved.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb: A Brief History 

Pikes Peak is just one of those places that never gets old. If you’ve ever been to the Hill Climb or even just driven the road on a random weekend, you know exactly what I mean. 

What makes the Hill Climb so cool is how different it is from a regular race.  Every corner has a personality — tight switchbacks at the bottom, fast sweepers up high, and then that final stretch where it’s basically you, the mountain, and a whole lot of open air on either side. It's hard to even tell how many corners there are on this lengthy route in to the clouds.

And from a design standpoint, the course just looks cool. It’s not a loop or a tidy little circuit — it’s this long, twisting climb that shoots straight up a mountain. Turning that into art makes it feel even more iconic. If you’re from Colorado, it’s basically a badge of honor. If you’re from anywhere else, it’s still one of the most unique races on the planet.
